This is an inspirational story with special significance because of its timely relevance to sports injuries. This short and easy flowing novel is particularly suited for young adults, but I found myself emotionally involved in the plight of Rex and the guilt of his coach.
This is a perfect vehicle for an examination of the right choices the youth of our country, their parents and coaches must make when their children play a contact sport like football. When does the love of the game and the team spirit to succeed come second to the health of the player? What if a life-long dream is crushed? Is there still a rewarding life at the end of the tunnel? Seasons change and people must adjust. That is the compelling theme of this highly enjoyable novel from the authors.

I purchased this book on a whim and was rewarded with a fantastic read! At first glance, it might seem like a typical high school sports story, but it’s so much more. The backdrop of sports beautifully frames a narrative that explores health, love, family, and friendship. The theme of concussions in sports is central, yet it’s woven seamlessly with intertwining stories that keep you engaged.
All the characters are relatable and easy to love, and the author beautifully captures their emotions throughout the book. You truly feel what each character experiences as they navigate their own seasons of life facing struggles and triumphs. I look forward to reading more from Russell DePersia in the future!

An emotional story which sheds light on the significant injuries , especially concussions suffered by football players nationwide.
It balances the concept of winning vs the health of the player and is an easy read for the entire family.

This is a great book! I would recommend this for any teenager or young adult that is involved in any sport. It has drama and life challenges that pertain to real life circumstances. Most of all how life can change in any given moment and tough choices.
